3rd Annual Icestravaganza Expands with New Location

Icestravaganza returns for its third year on Saturday, January 17, 2015 with a new location at the Freight House, more interactive ice sculptures, kids’ activities, extended Farmers Market hours, and a new After-Party.

Award-winning ice-sculptor Dawson List returns to Davenport from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to impress attendees with large ice sculptures carved live on site at the Freight House, 421 W. River Dr.  Last year, List created the huge and impressive ice throne – you don’t want to miss his new signature piece for 2015.  It’s FREE, so plan to share fun photos with friends and #tagtheQC!

Along with live ice carving, Icestravaganza will offer FREE indoor kids’ activities including a cookie decorating station, crafts, library story time, and an appearance by Rascal the River Bandit. The Freight House Farmers Market will remain open until 4 p.m. so you can shop local, too. Barstool Boogaloo will play live music throughout the day near Front Street Tap Room.  Public skating will be available nearby at River’s Edge for $5 minimum from 2:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Icestravaganza After-Party on the 2nd floor of the Freight House runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature a live DJ set by Just Let Go, a cash bar with a vodka luge, and heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by Front Street Brewery.  Tickets for the Icestravaganza After-Party are $10 and can be purchased in advance here or at DowntownDavenport.com.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door that evening. Just Let Go is like an old-school record party, updated for today’s record-obsessed party people.  They spin dusty soul/funk 45’s, rare-groove, afro-beat, hip-hop, new wave, disco, and even some of today’s hottest vinyl.  Stop talking about when you “used to go out dancing,” because now there’s no excuse.

After the sun goes down, the sculptures will be lit. Plan to enjoy the riverfront view from the second level of the Freight House while the After-Party is in full swing.  Tickets are limited, so pick up a pair now.

Icestravaganza is a proud supporter of the Be a Tourist in Your Own Backyard Weekend.  There’s more fun to be had downtown at River Music Experience, Bucktown Center for the Arts, Figge Art Museum, L&D 15, Bix Bistro, Re-Cre8 Studio, Downtown Central Perk, and the Radisson.  Visit www.qcbeatourist.com for more info.

Icestravaganza is presented by Genesis Health System and the Downtown Davenport Partnership.   Additional support is provided by Necker’s Jewelers, Front Street Brewery, Small Wonders Photography, and the Davenport Levee Improvement Commission.
